Unnamed-Sources Policy

We prefer named sources. When a source requires anonymity — for example, an insurance-carrier employee who would face retaliation for speaking — we describe the source's position without identifying them and explain why anonymity was granted. Information from anonymous sources must be corroborated by a second source or document.
